Grew up in Adelaide and represented South Australia in Under 16’s and 18’s.

He spent three years (2017-2020) in the United States playing college basketball at Cal State Monterey Bay. He then returned to Australia to play with the Hobart Chargers in the NBL1 South Season in 2021.

He is the son of ex-NBL player Rupert Sapwell, who played for five NBL teams across his career, with two seasons at South East Melbourne Magic.
