Hungry Jack's NBL

NBL Corporate Social Responsibility Statement

At the NBL we take our responsibilities seriously. We are responsible to our fans, our players, our employees, our stakeholders, our sponsors, our partners, our suppliers and the communities in which we operate. We believe that these responsibilities ought to govern the way we regulate ourselves to ultimately positively affect society as a whole. We ensure that we always work ethically and consider human rights as well as the social, economic and environmental impacts of what we do. We ensure that we always meet, and aim to exceed any requirements of relevant regulation of minimum standards, and if such regulation does not exist in a particular area, we aim to deliver out best practices anyway.

While the NBL is steeped in history as Australia’s oldest continuous national sports league, we foster a culture of innovation and embrace opportunities for continuous improvement in every aspect of our business.

Our Employees

We believe that our people, including our employees and our cohort of players, are our most important asset.

1. We do not discriminate. We believe our people should be judged on the basis of their behaviour and qualifications to carry out their jobs – without regard to race, gender religion, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, political belief, or any other trait or characteristic protected by law.

2. We do not tolerate violence or threats of violence, in any context.

3. We protect everyone’s right to privacy of personal information. We will only acquire personal information that is required to be effective in our business, or required by law.

4. We ensure Workplace Health and Safety. We believe that our people have the right to a safe working environment and that we are accountable for maintaining such an environment along with our constituent NBL Clubs.

Acting Responsibly with Stakeholders and Others

We believe that relationships are at the heart of our business.

1. We comply with the law. We always comply with applicable trade practices laws and ensure the same of our stakeholders.

2. We are open and honest. The NBL will always act in the best interest of our fans, players and staff to ensure, their safety and wellbeing.

3. We are fair when selecting suppliers. We consider all factors when selecting suppliers and we are committed to local procurement where practical. We make purchasing decisions based on commercially competitive factors including quality, accessibility, price, reliability and reputation.

First Nations Peoples

The NBL recognises the inherent value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and is committed to building a culturally competent organisation that acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as First Nations peoples and is respectful of their cultures.

We acknowledge and respect the traditional owners of the land on which we work and play.

Giving Back

We believe in structured and well-governed mechanisms to give back to our community.

1. CALT. We have a central Charity Advisory Leadership Team (CALT) to govern our charitable efforts.

2. We review all opportunities fairly and selectively. Ensuring that every request is responded to, and initiatives are selected based on their merit and alignment to the League’s mission and values.

3. We measure and are accountable. We ensure that we review, measure and report on the success or failure of our initiatives – always ensuring that we are aligned to our core values and mission.
